Learn to grow your own textile prints with Ali Schachtschneider and Annelie Koller. We will discuss the use of bacteria as a biologically grown design medium, and work with participants using bacteria to create printed textiles.
In this 2 part workshop you’ll learn to safely utilize bacteria to grow custom made prints. Each participant will work with naturally colored bacteria which secrete pigments that will be grown and printed onto fabrics, creating individual bio-textile pieces. In addition, you will be introduced to the exciting fields of biomaterials and biodesign, we’ll discuss safe working methods, and the use of science in art and design.
