As an educator and designer Nica Rabinowitz aims to break down the gap between production and consumption and introduce the notion of "caring" into the workplace and classroom. Rooted in supply chain research and a desire to revitalize local fiber farming communities, she sees fashion as a system, and therefore views her process as a study in system design with textile as the foundation.
Nica has worked as an instructor at Textile Arts Center and has lead workshops and classes at Loop of the Loom, Parsons the New School for Design's Green Eileen Design Incubator, and the Grow NYC Green Market. Nica is also a founding member of Saori Arts NYC, a non-profit weaving outreach initiative, and is the Co-Founder and Creative Director at Artifact Textiles. Nica believes education is power. Her goal as Education Coordinator is to inspire and to provide access to anyone and everyone interested in redefining the future of fashion and the way we make, source, consume, and manufacture.
