Last night at the Nanette Lepore Showroom, the Manufacture New York team took a moment to enjoy the fruits of their labor. The Made in NYC launch party was a bustling scene of laughter and shared success as partygoers celebrated the new face of manufacturing. The evening was all about showcasing the best of what New York manufacturing has to offer, starting with the unveiling of the new Made in NYC hang tags, designed by Manufacture NY founder Bob Bland, and the newly designed Made in NYC website.
These premium vinyl sticker hangtags are available in two colorways, and add value to any product by clearly identifying it as “MADE IN NYC”. A project of the Pratt Center for Community Development, Made In NYC is the only platform connecting designers, manufacturers, and consumers. They work to promote manufacturing in NYC to create a more equitable, sustainable, and economically diverse city. Manufacture NY is proud to partner on the pilot program of the new hangtag, available to all 100+ of our participating designers.
The Nanette Lepore showroom was the perfect venue for the event. The room shone as white as the hangtags and Apple computers that headlined the party. Guests were treated to a smorgasbord of tasty Hors d'oeuvres served by Saucy by Nature, which paired wonderfully with Brooklyn Brewery brews, fizzy drinks made with P&H Soda Co. syrups, and a lovely assortment of wines from Red Hook Winery. Then of course, dessert was served. Macaron Paris delivered an elegant pyramid of delicate macarons that were clearly to the taste of New York manufacturing's movers and shakers.
It was great to spend the evening with such a wonderful cast of players. The room echoed with the voices of New York's best in manufacturing and design, along with the influencers who help to make it all possible; and boy did they all look great! Bob had a blast catching up with some of her favorite faces in the New York scene, and I think everyone could agree on the fact that Nanette Lepore shined with as much luminescence as her showroom (we couldn't resist snapping pictures of her shoes. They were awesome!).
All in all, the night served as a lovely reminder of the enduring strength of New York manufacturing. Anyone who doubts the vitality of the industry really just needs to spend an evening with these powerhouse forces.
